What Happens If Something Looks Off

If an ear looks concerning during cleaning, whether that’s signs of infection or mites, you’ll be told right away and referred to your veterinarian for proper treatment. Grooming ear cleaning is meant to maintain healthy ears, not treat medical issues.

A Standalone Service

Nail trimming is available on its own, not just as part of a full groom, so you can book it separately whenever your dog needs a trim.

Nervous Dogs and Dark Nails

Dark nails make it harder to see the quick, the sensitive part of the nail that shouldn’t be cut, and nervous dogs can make any nail trim more difficult. At Rosie’s Grooming Salon, a helper works alongside the groomer during nail trims, along with tools that make it easier to identify the quick and keep your dog calm throughout.

What Products We Use, and Why

Most dogs are bathed with a de-shedding shampoo and conditioner. Shedding is a near-constant issue for most breeds, and the conditioning step in particular helps noticeably reduce loose hair between visits. For dogs that haven’t been groomed in a while, a deep-cleaning shampoo is used instead to work through built-up dirt and oils. A whitening shampoo is also available when a dog’s coat needs it.

How Long a Bath Takes

A standalone bath, including full drying, takes about an hour.

How De-Shedding Works

At Rosie’s Grooming Salon, de-shedding is done with a de-shedding comb, along with a de-shedding shampoo and conditioner. During drying, the dryer is used against the lay of the hair, which helps lift and remove the dead undercoat rather than just drying the topcoat.

How Much Difference It Makes

Done on a regular basis, de-shedding treatments considerably reduce shedding for most dogs. It’s most effective as part of a routine, rather than a one-time fix.

How We Remove Mats Without Shaving

When possible, mats are removed using a dematting tool designed to penetrate and cut through the tangled hair without disturbing the surrounding coat. If a mat is more manageable, scissors are used instead. The goal in every case is to save as much of your dog’s coat as safely possible.

When a Full Shave-Down Is Necessary

If mats cover about a third or more of your dog’s body, a full shave-down becomes the safer option. At that point, the mats are usually too extensive and too close to the skin to remove piece by piece without causing discomfort.

What to Expect

Haircut appointments currently focus on breed-standard styling rather than custom or creative cuts. A full haircut typically takes about 2 hours, though dogs with matting or coats that need extra care may take longer.

A Specialty in Husky Grooming

Husky cuts are a particular favorite, and Rosie’s Grooming Salon has hands-on experience working with the thick double coats huskies and similarly coated breeds carry.

Pricing

There isn’t a flat price range by dog size. Instead, pricing reflects the time a haircut actually takes, with an additional charge for dogs that come in heavily matted, since those appointments take meaningfully longer.
